Gallery wrapping is the method of stretching a printed canvas around a solid timber frame (called a stretcher bar) and securing it at the back - never on the sides. The result: your artwork runs edge to edge across the front with clean, finished sides and no visible staples or hardware.

The name comes from art galleries, where canvases are traditionally displayed this way so nothing distracts from the artwork itself.

Not all stretched canvas is equal. Budget imports often use thin canvas stapled to lightweight pine that warps within a year. A properly gallery wrapped canvas uses:
